Apple ipod - the emergence of a legend
Isn’t it incredible how the Apple ipod in just four years has moved to a position of complete dominance over the mp3 player market?
It is not too hard to see why, the ipod range all look terrific and are so compact and intuitive to use. Adding the iTunes music store to the package as well is a stroke of pure genius. Did you know that over 1 billion songs have been downloaded from this site?
Ipod’s not only play tunes but there is also ipod video and podcasts to enjoy too.
It doesn’t seem so long ago that I was lugging around a CD Walkman in the gym, and dropping it frequently, whilst wishing for an alternative that was lighter and less intrusive.
Enter the Apple ipod, fantastic in every respect.
There are several flavors of ipod you can choose from. There is the the standard model, ipod nano and ipod shuffle. The standard model is available in 30GB and 60GB sizes. The 30GB holds 7,500 tunes and the 60GB 15,000 tunes.
Next there is the nano ipod, this model is so light that you don’t even know you are wearing it. This feature makes it ideal for wearing when doing exercise.
If you take a look at the many ipod accessories available then you will find various forms of ipod cases and armbands etc. that you can secure the nano ipod with.
The ipod nano is available in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB variants which hold 240, 500 and 1,000 respectively.
Finally there is the ipod shuffle. This device atttempts to alleviate boredom by always playing your tunes in a different order, hence the name.
This hasn’t always been a popular model and indeed as the ipod nano for instance has a shuffle function it would be difficult to see why anyone would want to opt for the ipod shuffle.
The ipod shuffle is avaiable in 512MB and 1GB variants which hold 120 and 240 tunes respectively.
If you have an Apple shop near you then I would thoroughly recommend visiting it. Not only will you see the various ipod models and get to audition them, but you will be able to check out the great range of acessories and add ons available for the range.
The great thing about the ipod range is that they are all connected to pc’s or Macs via USB ports. This is an extremely flexible fast way of updating and charging your ipod.
